Lost ist eine US-amerikanische Fernsehserie, die von den Überlebenden eines Passagierflugzeugabsturzes und dessen Folgen auf einer Insel im Pazifik handelt. Lost ist als Mystery-Serie mit einer durchgängigen Handlung konzipiert. Die Spannung wird durch immer neue Enthüllungen – und daraus resultierende veränderte Betrachtungsweisen der Serie und einzelner Szenen – erzeugt, wobei verschiedene Aspekte der Handlung nach und nach miteinander in Verbindung gebracht und verstrickt werden.

Zu den bisher erhaltenen Auszeichnungen gehören ein Golden Globe sowie acht Emmys, einer davon als Beste Dramaserie im Jahr 2005. Die Serie startete am 22. September 2004 auf dem US-amerikanischen Network ABC. Derzeit sind fünf Staffeln komplett gezeigt worden, eine weitere ist geplant. Die Serie wird auch im deutschsprachigen Raum ausgestrahlt.

Show Runner der Serie und somit Hauptverantwortliche sind Damon Lindelof und Carlton Cuse. Produziert wird Lost von den ABC Studios, J. J. Abrams' Produktionsfirma Bad Robot Productions und Grass Skirt Productions.
