Looks good, but doesn't play on my Phillips player (maybe 10% don't work on there, YMMV)

Why not use MPC (Media Player Classic) it's a completely free and barebones version of windows media player. It pretty much plays everything and uses like no resources, and takes up like no space. You don't even have to install it.
